The Business
Analyst is responsible for eliciting, analyzing, specifying and validating the
business needs of project stakeholders, be they sponsors, requestors or
end-users. This includes interviewing
stakeholders and gathering and compiling user requirements to convey to
development and deployment teams throughout the project lifecycle. This Business Analyst will also apply proven
communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help support the
Project Management process, and to ensure that project deliverables are met
according to specifications.. Develops specific expertise in certain business
areas (such as manufacturing, operations, finance, etc.) and is recognized as
such by the business and IT communities. Works closely with the Relationship
Manager to ensure that all business needs are addressed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the business sponsors, key stakeholders and the PMO RM(s) to understand the business needs.
- Gathers and documents detail business requirements.
- Participates in interview workshops with key project sponsors to clearly define requirements, goals, scope and benefits of the project.
- Responsible for documenting requirements and defining scope for new projects.
- Maintains advanced knowledge of business processes.
- Identifies alternatives and develops scenarios for addressing business needs and requirements.
- Understands and suggests technology solutions.
- Collaborates with various businesses and IT personnel to create new solutions and solve existing business problems.
- Conducts research into products and vendors and works closely with the business to provide appropriate solutions.
- Documents business processes and participates in the development of procedures and workflows of how a new product or service is to be used.
- Works very closely with the PMO RM to ensure that all business needs and demands are addressed in a timely fashion.
- Interfaces with Project Sponsors and stakeholders to extract requirements and clarify goals.
- Conducts meetings for fact finding and gathering of data necessary for the decision making process.
- Builds and maintains good relationships with business customers, colleagues, contractors, vendors and consultants.
- Participates in preparing the user documentation and training manuals.
Educational and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business/Project Management/Finance or equivalent experience and at least 4-6 years technical background with business and IT systems and applications.
- Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification and methodology development.
- Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.
- Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
- Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required.
- Excellent listening, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and process complex technical information
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Wide knowledge of business processes and workflows for various types of businesses.
- Excellent group and facilitation skills.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Ability to create new solutions to solve business problems.
- 2-3 years working in Oil and Gas industry.
- Full understanding of project management standards and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong skills in managing expectations and organizing meeting schedules and deliverables working alone or as part of a larger Project Team.
- Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with end-users, peers, managers and vendors.
- Sensitive to confidential information
- Travel required, generally between IT sites in Cisco, Aledo and Fort Worth. Minimal other out of town travel may include trips to FTS field offices.
